A court in Budapest has ordered the temporary blocking of about 20 websites that carry Holocaust denial material, JTA reported on Wednesday.

The websites in question sell the Hungarian edition of a book by a Swedish author that denies that the Nazis committed genocide and makes excerpts available to read on-line, Budapest chief prosecutor Tibor Ibolya was quoted as having said Tuesday.

An investigation of the Hungarian publisher was suspended while the head of the company is out of the country, Hungary Today reported.

In February 2010, the Hungarian parliament made denying the genocide committed by the Nazi regime a crime punishable by a maximum three-year prison sentence.

Last year, a Hungarian man was ordered by a prosecutor to read up on the Holocaust after he shared a picture on social media depicting Auschwitz as an imaginary fun camp.

The 33-year-old, from Gyongyos east of Budapest, was ordered to visit a Holocaust museum and read a well-known history book on the period.

And, in January, a 38-year-old man was handed down a fine for a tirade on Facebook in which he used anti-Semitic insults and a term which questioned the veracity of the Holocaust.
