Remembering Max Iland Z”L

International March of the Living mourns the passing of Max Iland (1932-2022), Holocaust survivor and educator, who participated in several March of the Living programs with the Canadian delegation. On the 2014 March of the Living, together with other Holocaust survivors, Max helped complete the writing of a Torah in Auschwitz, by filling out one of its last letters. He then travelled to Israel where he celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on Masada, an event he was prevented from having during his childhood because of the Holocaust.

May his memory always be for a blessing.

See links below to the film showing his Bar Mitzvah on Masada as well as excerpt from the March of the Living publication, “Witness: Passing the Torch of Holocaust Memory to New Generations”, along with his obituary.
