MOTL commends the Government of Canada on the recent appointment of Irwin Cotler as Special Envoy on Preserving Holocaust Remembrance and Combatting Antisemitism in Canada

Professor Cotler, Chairman of the Raul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, is one of the world’s foremost human rights advocates, and is respected across the globe for his pioneering human rights efforts.

Professor Cotler has participated in numerous March of the Living programs, where he spoke to thousands of students and Holocaust survivors from around the world on Holocaust Remembrance Day in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

In 2016, he co-chaired an International Legal Symposium on the “Double Entendre of Nuremberg – the Nuremberg of Hate and the Nuremberg of Justice” – on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the coming into effect of the Nuremberg Race Laws and the 70th Anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials.

This historic symposium was held at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland on May 4th 2016 and sponsored by the University, the Raul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights and International March of the Living.

International March of the Living congratulates Professor Cotler on this important appointment and looks forward to significant strides in his continuing pursuit of justice and dignity for all humanity.
