As part of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day events, a special exhibition was inaugurated this morning at the United Nations by Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, together with Holocaust survivor Nate Leipciger.

WE SURVIVED is an exhibition by award winning photographer Ziv Koren and the International March of the Living, documenting Holocaust survivors who return each year to Auschwitz-Birkenau on Holocaust Remembrance Day as part of the March of the Living.

Auschwitz–Birkenau stands as the ultimate symbol of human evil and the murder of six million Jews. It is here that Koren places his lens, facing those who survived.

This exhibition stands as irrefutable evidence of the Holocaust in the face of denial, and as a warning of where unchecked hatred, racism, and antisemitism can lead. In an era of rising antisemitism, these photographs affirm a deeper truth: memory demands presence, courage, and continuity.

WE SURVIVED is not only about remembrance, but about responsibility to remember, and to pass the torch of memory to the next generation.
